WHAT IS THE MODEL REMODEL? 

The 2022 Model ReModel project will refresh an early 19th-century Victorian home and add a newly constructed attached accessory dwelling unit. It’s located in the historic district of Hyattsville, Md, known for its number of Victorian and Arts & Crafts homes.

The project will be led by preservation requirements and Symbi Homes’ set of values, focusing on a symbiotic approach to construction, creating homes that mutually benefit people and the planet. In the main home, Symbi will revamp the first floor and refurbish the existing wood drop siding. In a unique twist, the homeowners will move into the new ADU, which will be constructed with aging-in-place and universal design principles at the forefront.
